Much like Storm Claudia tore through the north-west the previous evening, the home side overwhelmed United away at the their home ground. It was a statement 3-0 triumph for their manager's side owing to goals from Rebecca Knaak, Bunny Shaw and Lauren Hemp. It was a performance that firmly established their championship potential as they consolidated their standing at the top of the table.

Successive Setbacks for United

This result marked back-to-back league defeats for Skinner's side for the first time since May 2024, putting them a significant margin off the top team with their trophy ambitions hanging by a thread.

Manchester United's ability to manage league and European football with a thin roster has been a widely debated issue since they qualified for the Champions League. Considering the fixture list, it always appeared this was the week that would truly test this capability. Unfortunately for the visitors, they looked weary from start to finish, the landmark win against PSG clearly having taken a toll.

Tactical Shifts
